Lowie Vermeersch (Designer, Founder and Creative Director of Granstudio)

Lowie Vermeersch grew up in a family of artists in the Belgian countryside, and studied Industrial Design at the University of Delft. His passion for design brought him to Italy, where he started his professional career in Pininfarina. Here he was responsible for the design of many awarded cars, among which the Pininfarina Nido and Sintesi concept cars, Ferrari 458, Maserati Birdcage and Alfa Romeo Duettottanta. He became Design Director of Pininfarina in 2007 and in 2010 raked among the most influential automotive designers of the world.

In 2011 he founded Granstudio, a mobility design consultancy that allowed him to expand his activities beyond cars to include mobility research and mobility design at an urban scale. Their unique combination of deep vehicle know how with a broader understanding of mobility allows them to seamlessly translate future mobility visions into detailed feasible mobility means. Balancing human desires with societal needs and making vehicles more purposeful within a specific context is hereby key.

Granstudio is currently working on car designs such as the solar car Lightyear One and new types of mobility means, as well as defining mobility plans and visions for different cities and regions In Europe.
